“Amanda is an extremely talented, CALT-certified dyslexia teacher. Amanda has a very gentle approach, and yet she is also able to keep my daughter focused and hold her accountable. She follows a strict dyslexia program while incorporating fun educational games to reinforce her lessons. Amanda's very encouraging, positive approach has helped my daughter rebuild her confidence. It is very apparent that Amanda strives to be the best. She comes to every lesson extremely organized. It is clear she puts lots of thought into her lessons and how she delivers them. She has gone above and beyond to get to know my child's learning strengths and weaknesses as well as her personal interests. She has often tailored her methods to increase my daughter’s interest. I have also seen her pivot exercises on days my daughter needs a different approach, sometimes because she is having an off day, tired, and/or just struggling with a specific area. My daughter was struggling even though her school was offering an Orton-Gillingham approach. It wasn't until I was able to get her consistent time with Amanda that I saw her make huge leaps. She is now managing her school work 95% on her own and getting excellent grades. My daughter’s confidence and belief in herself has skyrocketed. I cannot thank Amanda enough for the work she has done. ”

“We highly recommend Amanda as a Dyslexia tutor. Amanda started tutoring our son three years ago, when he was in 2nd Grade. He is now in 5th Grade and has reached a major milestone of reading on grade level! We feel like he is prepared to transition to Middle School and has the tools needed to help him succeed. Amanda has assessed our son’s needs and developed a program specific to help him reach his reading goals. She partners with our Elementary school’s Dyslexia teacher to strengthen our son’s learning. Amanda is also very sensitive to how well a lesson is going and will adjust a lesson if it is too hard or too easy. She also incorporates games to make learning fun. It has been a great way to keep our son engaged. It has been a blessing having Amanda as our son’s tutor for the last three years. He is much more fluent in his reading and we’ve seen his confidence grow as a result of his time with Amanda. It has been a great experience.”

Our 10-year-old daughter was struggling with spelling, written expression, and did not like reading longer chapter books on her own. She did not qualify for services at school, but we noticed her continuing to struggle with these literacy skills. Since receiving highly individualized therapy services from Ms. Amanda, our daughter's writing has become more accurate and complex, and best of all, she truly enjoys reading and discussing chapter books! Her grades in school also reflect her improved skills. Ms. Amanda has a wonderful way of engaging her students virtually, and our daughter looks forward to each session. Not only did Ms. Amanda provide feedback on our daughter's virtual sessions, she also answered our questions and offered advice on school related issues. I hope that parents in our same position seek out services from Absolute Literacy to help them better understand the specific needs and skills to target to help their child be successful across all academic areas.
